This artwork was created from feeling and lived experience rather than a pre-planned concept. It is made on a board I found at my home in Greece and finished with a handmade frame, allowing the material itself to carry memory and place.
The piece captures a day spent on a motorboat, drifting spontaneously along the island’s shores in search of quiet—away from people, just us and the ocean. At the end of the day came the jump into the open sea. That moment of immersion: complete silence, the body suspended, and the deep navy blue water pierced by sunlight.
As you look down, the blue grows darker and darker, endless and unknowable. Surrounded entirely by water, there is a sensation of floating in space—an infinite depth of navy tones, interrupted only by silver glints of light, like scattered jewelry. It is a place both wondrous and humbling, where only the need for air eventually draws you back to the surface.
